I purchased 5 turkey poults (from a couple of weeks old to a couple of days old) and 3 chicks (days old) from a local farm. They are in week 3 of quarantine from the rest of my flock.
I ran out of my normal organic feed when my co-op cancelled a delivery. I accidentally purchased a game bird feed that contains bacitracin methylene disalicylate 20 gm/ton. They didn't carry any other option that had high enough protein for the turkeys. I fed it for two weeks.
My concern is that that antibiotic feed may have prevented an illness from showing up. Is this a legitimate concern or is the amount of antibiotic too low to really prevent serious illness from manifesting?
When my 4 weeks of quarantine will be over, they will have been off the antibiotic feed for 10 days. Do you think it will be safe to move them out with the rest of my flock on schedule at 4 weeks?
I'm sick of having poults and chicks in my bathroom!
