I have an Australorp that went broody yesterday. She has been on the nest all day yesterday and all day today. She has 7 eggs under her. Tonight when i went to put them up I changed her nesting area. Where she was was up high and the chickens favorite box so I worried when she got off to eat and poo someone would grab her nest and she wouldnt be able to get back on so I put her and her eggs in a little coop in the coop. Now she is freaking out not staying on the nest. I left her alone hoping she will get back on the eggs. Did I mess up? Do you think she will settle back down on the eggs or should I bring them in?

thats a tough call. You may just want to move them all back for now. Then tomorrow try moving them all to a different location all together. Maybe a large box in the garage or dog crate or something like that.

It sounds like she really liked that nest. Just let her sit there for a bit to calm down.

Can you limit her space for a little while. I always relocate mine to another coop w/ a nest box. I force mind to stay in and/or near the nest box for a day or two. It usually works.... but some hens are better than others at settling where you want them to nest. All the best!

I went back in and checked on her and she is back on the eggs with the trance look again. I put her nest box in the coop with her one egg was knocked out probably went she got back in but I put it back under her and she stayed still. So iI guess I didnt mess up. Hope she stays with it. This is her first time going broody.
