My DH gave me one of his 50 gallon barrels to keep the chicken feed in. It has a nice lid with a ring to keep it closed tight. We are keeping this outside next to the coop for easy access, but this morning when I opened it up there was a horrible rotten milk smell. I put the lid back on and feed them some watermelon and let them out to freerange

Should I throw out the food? i've had it for about 3 weeks and the smell is new

Thanks - Nikki

It is bad get rid of it. Do not store the feed can outside. Temps change to much and humidtity is higher. Keep feed can inside where temps will not fluctuate so much and humidity is lower.
