We bought a sweet year old silkie hen back in May and she is falling apart. She’s on the smaller side, around 1-2 lbs. A few weeks ago she seemed to suffer a heat stroke. She was found on her back looking not so alive, so we set her gave her the spa treatment and she was given her own storage tote in our kitchen in the AC. She seemed to bounce back aside from one side of her body being more stiff but she was walking around just fine, drinking, and eating. She was given a bath, spent 4 days inside and then was set out with the rest of the ladies. She notably didn’t use the one wing on her stiff side since the first incident Fast forward to this weekend, she was found on her back, this time with a crown full of mites as well. Once she was set upright she was able to walk again and was treated for mites and fed and watered separately from the other girls. Everyone got a mite treatment so we thought it was safe to set her out again but I found her this morning on her back again. She is in her own isolation tub but she’s not doing well. It seems like half of her is paralyzed and she is leaning…she not only won’t use her wing, but the matching leg seems paralyzed now too. Any help is appreciated even if it’s bad news, we don’t want her to suffer.
