Hello, has anyone had birds survive avian pox? What can I expect with this disease? Did you treat with any medications? How long did it last? Any help appreciated.

The dry form. Did just fine. Didn't do anything, it just passes like when people have it. Some put neosporin on the spots to keep them from getting infected but I just kept a check on how they were.

What variety are you talking about, wet or dry? i had a chicken that had the dry variety, with the sores just on her face, wattles and comb. She came through it just fine. i have read of others who had chickens with the wet variety. It can be fatal if you don't keep their throat clear. If you search for fowl pox, you should find lots of threads on it.

My older hens had a round of dry pox last year. They required no intervention, and recovered quickly and completely. It looked awful, but was pretty mild overall.
