Didn't get what I paid for. What to do?

I paid $200 for my fiancee a "Purple Ribbon" bred redbone coonhound. For those who aren't familiar with purple ribbon that's supposed to be the best. Anyway, we got the dog several months ago. The dog was 6wks old when we picked him up and the boy said he would have the papers ready in a couple weeks. A few weeks went by, we called and said he just hadn't been able to do it yet but he'd get to it in the next week. Two more weeks go by and we call again, for several days he won't answer the phone. Finally calls back with some crap excuse about being at the hospital and says he sent the papers off and we should have them in a couple of weeks. THAT was 3 or 4 wks ago and we still have no papers and have not heard from him. My fiancee says he's tired of bugging him about it but I am TICKED off cause I paid $200 for a purple ribbon bred dog and have NO PAPERS at all on the dog. What should I do?

I don't want this to sound harsh at all, but sometimes you get what you pay for. $200 doesn't sound like a lot to me for the best of the best, kwim? It really sucks though... you can only hope that he really does have papers and is just procrastinating. If he lied to you you could see if you can give the dog back and get your money back or go to civil claims court... though you would be out more than $200 with fees, etc. Sorry that happened.

Explain to him/her very nicely that if you do either get the paperwork or money back within a given period of time, that you will be filing a police report for fraud.

That should get his butt in gear!

I agree with Georgia - you can't buy a purebred dog with papers for $200.

Oh yes, I do agree with that but with such a bargain you expect someone to be a little suspicious. Where can you fnd purepred dogs for $200? I would run like the wind from any deal that seems too good to be true.

Well personally i say papers dont matter. If he IS the blood line he says he is then $200 for a pup should be good cause he's gonna be treeing you lots of coons! 90% of the dogs i've had with papers turned out to be lazy no good dogs that layed down at the tree lol. I would be ad i didnt get the papers but wouldnt worry so much with it. We've had people hunting with us and at the tree pull out $1,200 cash and say hand the leash over and the dog had ZERO papers.

You paid for a dog with papers, you should get papers or your money back. End of story.

yup..its what i'd do...if i bought the dog with the intent of it being a papered dog...i'd try to sue also. whether she got a deal on the price or not isnt the point...the point is..she bought a purebred dog for a reason. maybe she wants to show him? maybe she wants to breed him herself..and she cant without those papers now...yeah..i'd be mad also!
