I didn't think it was possible to love my 4 hens any more than I already do.... but today I went out to sit with them while they were free ranging, and one came over to me, stretched out to sunbathe and starting purring! I swear it sounded just like a cat... my heart just melted. I should mention I was out there planning on a way to section off part of the back yard for them to range, and part for me to have flowers and chicken poo free walking areas. Oh well, so much for that idea

After the cute purring, they will continue to have total free range

Oh, I know what you mean! Sometimes I think my heart will just burst from how much I love our chickens (shhhh!).

I absolutely melt when I hear that sound, which I call a trill. And the little contented "bok bok" as one settles into my lap and then begins the trill. Or when a chicken snuggles against me, tucks her head under a wing and goes to sleep. How can one avoid spoiling such affectionate pets?
