So I ordered 5 hens & 1 roo from Cackle Hatchery. I didn't think to ask if they mark the roo somehow so I know "who to name Sue".

Has anyone had such an order and was the roo identified ??

It all depends on what breed of chickens you ordered. If you ordered Sexlink chickens, the pullets and cockerels are easily identified/distinguished by color, or other markings.
You will find out soon which is rooster by behavior, and afterward, the crowing. If you posted pictures, there are ways that peeps viewing the pix could identify who is what.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

I keep watching videos of examining the vent to determine sex but I sure hope I don't have to do that. It would be nice to know who the roo is from the get go.

My understanding is,,,,,,,,,,,,,, vent sexing is not 100% accurate, and also needs to be done in a certain time period. First few days possibly.
You did not write the breed of chickens ordered. in this posting :idunno

EE's...hopefully the roo will be identified & that will be that. The babies get here tomorrow so I will know shortly if I need to name them all Sue just in case.

I always like to provide solutions, and often use a humorous twist. Here are my suggested solutions on names. Since you only have 6 chickens, I will stop at 6 names. :highfive:
