differecne of mash and pellets

Mash is just plain milled grains. With pellets they grind the feed up finer and then extrude it into small pellets. Crumbles are just busted up pellets. 50 lbs of feed is 50 lbs of feed... Not sure what you are asking there.

Mash is as fine as flour, crumbles are like small pieces of grain and the pellets are the largest form of chickenk feed, if you have ever seen rabbit food pellets they are the same type of thing.
You start you chicks out on mash or crumbles and if you want to switch them to layer pellets when they are old enough to start laying you can or you can keep them on crumbles but be sure they are layer crumbles as laying hens need different nutrients/ratio of vitamins and minerals than young chickens.
50 lbs is 50 lbs no matter what size or shape you put in a bag, you are going to get the same amount of food in a 50 lb bag regardless of which form of food you choose.

My laying hens like a little mash mixed with water for variety. Warm water with it in the winter and they go crazy for it... eat up every bit of it. No wasted feed.

and the one thing i find with pellets (i actually got them accidently, ment to get crumbles) is that the little wild birds stay out of there food now cause its too big for their little mouths.. I like that alot!!

Mash is simply a mixture of ground grains, protein products, macro minerals, trace minerals, vitamins, and other ingredients. In SOME areas it is a feed intended to be mixed with water, however this is not through out the entire feed industry.

Mash/Ground Feed is used to make Pellets by processing through a pellet mill.

Pellets are processed through a Crumblizer to make Crumbles.

The only difference is the form the feed is provided to the animal, the recipe and nutrients are identical.
