Difference between production red and new hampshire?

How do you tell them apart?

I think it can be hard to tell for sure if one isn't familiar with what a purebred New Hampshire or a purebred Rhode Island Red looks like. If the bird came from a hatchery it is probably a production red. Sorry I can't be more help.
