Hey, as in the topic. I'm planning to buy an indian peafowl couple or more and I wanna make sure I won't be buying a hybrid of green and indian peafowl. What are the main differences? I know the headfeathers are different, I know the feathers are more green on emeralds of course, but anything more to be sure? Regards

Don't know about America, but in my country people just sell hybrids (emerald peafowl), and often call them indian, or pure green (java) and I know they are mistaken. So I wanna have a few ways of making sure which peafowl is which. Any signifant difference please. Is there something indian peafowl have that other peafowls dont have? So I can make sure its pure indian

Look at the neck feathers on the male. They should be pure blue with an almost furry texture rather than being greenish and having a scaly look to them.

Pavo cristatus whose genome is polluted by genes from Pavo muticus or from spaldings.
