This might be a silly thread to start but just wondering if anyone has noticed any kind of correlation between the color of quail and the color of eggs they lay? Or if its totally random depending on genetics? I can't find any information on this online. I have jumbo browns from 2 different bloodlines and all their eggs look exactly the same. I just ordered a mix batch of Italian, tibetan, pharaoh and A&M and they look completely different than my eggs. What is up! any ideas, opinions, theories :)

. My jumbo brown eggs are the rows on the right , they're also incredibly glossy compared to the others

Each breed and hen for that matter, will lay a different color of egg. It is all preset in the genes at hatch. These colors are formed from a "Dye", for a lack of a better term, that is put on just as the egg is being laid. All avian eggs are white while in the oviduct except for certain types of poultry that actually do lay blue eggs.
