Have been incubating some eggs for the first time, and had a chick hatch out almost two weeks ago, and just had another hatch this morning. My question is... How will they fare when they are introduced to each other? The new chick is considerably smaller that the other. Do I really have anything to worry about or will the older chick "peck the heck" out of the new one? Seems the older is starting to get aweful feisty in the brooder pen. Thanks for your replies! Tom

I do this with any bird of any age. Throw them together and see how it works. Some birds get pecked on some dont. Some time there are issues and some time there isnt any. I can add 2 week olds to the whole flock and everything is fine. I added one adult hen one time and it was a disaster.

Quote:I would agree with this - the little one will definitely get picked to some extent, but usually it isn't very bad. You just have to keep an eye on them.
