Different breed of mate for Aylesbury drake?

I've been looking for another female Aylesbury or two to go with our female and drake as I'm worried the female is getting pestered by the drake, but so far I haven't been able to find any Aylesburys.

My question is, would it be effective if I put different breeds together, or would the Aylesbury drake favour the Aylesbury female? Would a similar white duck suffice, like a white Campbell or white Indian runner? Would any colour suffice?

You can get any breed of female you like and I don't think your drake will complain. He may favor an all white though not sure about that. I'd stay with one that will get about same size as the female you have since drakes are heavier.

x2 @miss Lydia

Ducks are like dogs they don't care they will breed with any breed as long as it's another duck . Just keep sizes close to the same so your male doesn't like squash a little duck when trying to mate

I've managed to find a couple of female Aylesburys but they are only 7 weeks old. It's that too young to be placed with a sexually mature male?

It sure is, put up temp fencing and let them live side by side till the ducklings are at least 4 months old or sexually mature. But great you found some. Keep us updated.

Hmm, not sure that's possible. They live in a closed coop with its own house. I think the only way to keep them apart would be to build a second coop and house. Might have to give these a miss and wait for more mature ducks to be available.

Drakes are to hard on ducklings and can even kill them so you don't want to take a chance he may injure one. Temp fencing and dog kennel for sleeping at night so they are all together but drake has to behave himself.
