I have 3 sapphire gems and 2 barred rocks. My gems aren't quite as friendly as my rocks, but they are good layers. The rocks are 2 months older than the gems. Took a little work (and pecking) to integrate them together, but not terrible. The gems looked like skinny pigeons for the longest time and I was quite worried! LOL...just the ugly teenage years. They filled out into beautiful birds!
