I am starting eggs in the bator in a couple of days and wanted to start another few eggs a week later... I am using the Brinsea Eco with auto turner... So my question is if it is possible then do I stop the auto turn when the first batch is ready for lockdown and manualy turn the other eggs??? Or can I just keep turning the eggs through lockdown until hatch? I just don't want to open the bator if I don't have to while the first clutch is in lockdown. Also do I still increase the humidity for the first batch and if so wouldn't that hurt the second batch? And will the first batch hatching earlier hurt the second batch???

Thanks

I'm bumping this up because I'd be interested to know what other people do in this situation. I think you can turn off the turner and not move the later ones at all if it's only a few days... Don't know about a week. You really don't want to open the incubator at all when its in lockdown... So I would think hand turning would be out.

Mind you I have about 6 minutes of hatching experiance. From what posts I have read most staggered hatches are done with 2 incubators. One to incubate with a turner. one without a turner for lockdown. The hatching chicks need the xtra moisture and the xtra moisture may harm the younger ones. Hope this helps

there a BYC'ers who have posted "staggered hatch." You could find posts with that title.
