Different shades in chicks

Why are some of my RIR chicks dark and some are lighter? Last hatch I had two that were almost white. Then when they got older they were a red was a shade lighter. Now I have about two to three chicks with more white on their stomach than the other 4. The hens are pure bred and the roo is too. So what would cause this color difference or are they like humans in they have dominant genes and recessive ones.

I've got three that looks something like this and four regular chicks.

And the other four like this

Where did you get them from?
If you hatched them from your birds, where did you get the parent stock?

From the pictures it looks more Buff than Red..

I hatched the chicks the first hens I ordered from a hatchery thru a feed store and my roo I got from a person that was selling some chicks.
