Can different turkey breeds be housed together if they are different weights? I will be ordering turkeys next year and I'm looking at Naragansett, Burbon Red, and Royal Palm turkeys. I'd order them all at the same time and they would be kept as breeding stock with just a few to be eaten this year. Ideally I'd like to brood them all together but when they start growing I'm scared. I'd also like to house them together as adults at night and every day allow them into the communal chicken/duck/goose area but don't know how well they would do. What do you suggest? Or should I just pick one breed and raise it, eat it, and then reorder a different breed for next year, rinse and repeat? Or 3rd option, pick a breed, allow them to breed and raise poults, eat the adults when poults are self-sufficient, and raise the poults for same process next year? Oh too many choices!
