What are your methods for identifying certain birds and telling them apart from others while they age? Current chicks are 1 week and I need to keep one out of the rest, but don’t know the best way to ID the bird. Leg band? Nail polish on talons? Idk, just spitting random ideas. Please share your methods and/or thoughts.

I spray their tail feathers (or back) with an antibiotic spray for poultry that has a purple dye in it. Shield their head with an old rag to avoid them inhaling a full shot of medicine or a squirt to the eye. Due to the location sprayed, it lasts for 4 to 6 weeks on an adult bird; younger birds molt more frequently so would need reapplication more often.

Interesting!! Do you have a link where you purchase?

Thank you, I’ve ordered the bands in three sizes

At 1 week I would use rubber bands. You can buy bands on amazon, both the ones specifically for poultry or orthodontist bands. In the official poultry bands, get the smallest size and when they’re full grown you can switch to zip ties.
This, just use orthodontist bands. Cheap and effective.
