Difficult breeds to sex

hi all,

I have 5 chicks about a week old now. And they are all pretty tricky breeds to sex, 1 x light Sussex, 1 x Araucana (possibly Lavender) 3 x Silkies. When do you reckon is the earliest they could be recognisably male or female?

You should be able to tell on the Sussex at 6-8 weeks by comb color and development. The silkies may take longer, some up to 4 months.

Agree. 6-8 weeks on the Sussex and Araucana. Much longer on the Silkie.
