Diffrent food

So I just got chickens and these chickens are around three months old, they were normally fed scratch feed but I have them on normal pellets. So my basic question is, will the chickens learn by themselves where the grit, feed and oyster shells are, if they can get to them? (I have two mature hens I got too.) (on grower feed with oyster shells optional.)

Chickens are great at balancing their nutrition and will locate what they need. Chickens do hate change, and sometimes it takes a while to switch especially from scratch to pellets.

I am glad you switched them because scratch is not a complete feed.
They will figure it out, give them a few days.

May I ask what brand name is the pellet you are feeding?

I had hens that didn’t find the calcium/grit on their own , I sprinkled a bit on their food for a few days , then they found the two jars on the wall ... they aren’t all the same and you need to try and observe them and see if they find it ...

My grit and calcium are in glass jars , shaking them alerted the pullets to the exciting noise also when I add more I make a big noise pouring it in the jars
