Digging in the ground

I just put my nine babies in their coop outside for the first time last night. Today was their first day out in the yard, and they are digging around one of the legs of one of he hutches. Then they just flap around. I didn't know if they are sick or hunting up bugs... Should I worry?

They take dust baths in the dirt. They dig holes and then flap around like they are having a seizure.

This is normal.

Chickens love dustbathing! Don't worry, your chickens aren't sick or going crazy.

We have a (new) small kitty litter pan that we filled with sand and put in their brooder forever, it seems. It's nothing unusual to see 4 (or more when they were little) piled in there, even though they can't really fit anymore. They are fun!
