I posted over the weekend about my broody giving up on some of my eBay eggs after sitting on them for 2 1/2 days. She is still sitting on them at night but is off the nest all day for the last 4days. My other hens are getting on the nest and sit while they are laying their own eggs but no one is sitting on them constantly.

I pretty much said they are goners but I left them.

Just curious I candled one this morning and there was a lot of veins. So I put it in the incubator with the others after cracking open a egg that showed no development ( there wasn’t any).

So more curious I went and checked on the last three. Here is what they look like.

They look alive to me. What do you think?

Should I take the 3eggs out of my incubator that look like below and replace them with the ones above? I don’t have room for them all. The ones below are day 5 but I don’t see anything. What would you do?

Ok I did it. I braced myself and cracked the three that looked like they were not developing. It’s hard to tell with the brown eggs.

Yup all clear no development..whew. I feel better. The yoke looked like it had been shaken. At least the other eggs have now have a chance.

I’m not sure what day they would be counted as though. If my silkie had been sitting on them the whole time they would be on 6 1/2 days. My others in the incubator are on day 5. Not sure how the cool time would have messed with their development.

It might have affected the timing of the 3 eggs a little bit but you probably have warm temperatures most of the time. If other hens were sitting on them off and on thru the day then the eggs probably didn't slow much. When the older 3 eggs get to day 18 then quit turning all the eggs at the same time. An extra day or two won't hurt the slower ones. You will just have to watch for early hatchers and remove them as soon as you can.
Feel free to ask questions if you have other concerns about this hatch. ;)
