I am getting ready to get 25 chicks and need to know what kind of space in the run. The coop is already on the small side 8x8. So I figure if I add some extra room in the run they will be fine. Any suggestions
The bigger the better, but you already knew that. We have an 8 X 10 coop and we attched the run to the 8ft side and ran it out 22 ft. So we have an 8 X 22 for 20 hens. I feel like its way to small for 20 chickens, although they say each chicken needs 4 sq ft each.
It's 4 sq ft. per bird inside, 10 sq. ft. outside (I think)
So you'd need about 250 sq. ft. run, with a 100 sq. ft. coop. Basically a 10x10 coop with a 10x20 run, or somewhere along those lines. You can get by with less space per bird inside if you have plenty of space outside.

Although, remember that those aren't the *best* numbers, it's just sort of a bare minimum that you might reasonably expect to pretty much get away with in terms of them not killing each other and so forth.
More space works better.
I'd suggest building it as large as seems feasible at the moment.
