Okay at this point I'm sure we all know that chickens were descendants of dinosaurs and that supposedly scientists have found how to recreate teeth and tails but none of those scientists are working together so there will never be any progress.

So how come no one is trying to breed their own dinosaur looking chickens. I certainly would if I had the space but I don't even have the space for purebred chickens.

I'm not sure how one would get started though. Some of the things one would need are kind of difficult to breed for. Such as:

-A longer tail
-Teeth
-scales rather than feather, although some dinosaurs may have had feathers scales are cool and different when it comes to a chicken. Perhaps if leg-scales could be spread to the rest of the body? Breeding a bird with leg scales that reach further and further up.

And silkies seem to have the most primitive feathers, perhaps those would be more likely to revert to scales? Feather legged birds would be undesireable but I guess that would also include silkies.

But if a lot of people bred for specific things and then combined their stock further down the road, then I think it would be completely doable! I mean look at all the dog breeds we have from wolves, all the chicken breeds from wild jungle foul, the domesticated coturnix, cows, goats, . People made all those things. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about making a dinosaur??

Consult the Creator?

Why would you want a dinosaur anyway? I mean chickens are so much easier to have running around the back yard.....

I guess you could try this, if your kids have a science project...

(But yes, they so remind me of little midget dinosaurs hunting bugs in my back yard, the scales are a dead give away to their lineage. I'm glad that the Creator created a system by which living things can adapt to their changing environment. It would be sad to have living things just die out without at least a chance to adapt. )

Well I'm not saying I want a dinosaur. I want a chicken that looks like a dinosaur. Why would anyone want a bird with lavender feathers? Some people just like that sort of thing.

ETA: I can't believe the first two responses mentioned the "Creator". It's a little odd.

Not really. You want to "create" a chicken that looks like a dinosaur. It only makes sense to consult the one who created both things, doesn't it?

Of course, if you don't believe in such things, this might seem a little odd.....

....about as odd as someone wanting a chicken that looks like a dinosaur.

Personally? I like things just the way God created them. If I would want any modifications to chickens at all I would want chickens who clean out their own coops, eat grass and bugs only and deliver their eggs to your doorstep, neatly layed into egg cartons.......

but then, that's asking a bit much, isn't it?

I for one think it would be cool but I have my doubts that birds/dinosaurs didn't have feathers instead of scales to begin with. I believe there were some of each, just like there are now.

This might be as close to a primitive/dinosaur bird as your going to get right now.
The Madagascar is the fowl in the ancestry of the modern Naked Neck (or Turken).
(Not my bird)
