I have a 3 week old chicken who seems to be trying to use her bedding as a dirt bath; I think. At first I thought something was wrong with her but she'll get up and get water and then go back to sort of rolling around and kicking the bedding.

Normal or worry?

Could she be trying to make a nest...? Its instinctive of chickens to do this, whether they are in lay or not !!!!

That doesn't look like what she's doing but I could be wrong. She's happily eating now, so I'm not worried. :p

Normal dustbathing behavior! If you give them a pan of loose dirt, they'll get right to it.

I've never seen a chick make a nesting divot. Pullets will as they near POL -- it's one way to know they're very close.

I guess I should add this in as she was having a good time until the others walked on her.
