Last nite I had to put my girls in their coop in the dark. The door to the run had blown closed. They must have been confused and didn't find their usual perches. Two of my white girls got a lot of chik poo on them. What's the best way to clean them, or do I let them take care of it.

A dust bath should do the trick.

EDIT: They will "bathe" themselves. You won't need to do anything with the dust bath but provide it for them. :)

If it's dry, you can try to pick it off.
If it's wet, give a quick wipe with a paper towel to get most of it off.

Or do nothing, they will preen it off eventually.

Kinda depends were its located at as well. If its near their vents i would go ahead and clean it to help prevent fly strike. If its just a recent thing and doesnt happen often thats unlikely to happen but i whether be safe the sorry one that. I have a fee really fluffy butted girls and i have to keep their feathers trimmed some so it doesnt build up near their vents and cause it.

Thanks for the advice. Since I wanted my whitest girl to look good I wiped the worst with a rag and she found an area of the property with exposed earth just right for a dust bath. Problem solved!
