My youngsters have had a muddy time of it in the little space I made them in the coop. They are so filthy and its been raining all week. Dry today but they don't seem to be getting any cleaner. Should I give them a bath? How does one give a chicken a bath???

I think you need to work more on an appropriate environment/space for them than bathing them. If they're in wet, muddy conditions bathing them is not going to help, they'll just get muddy again. chickens are great at keeping themselves clean, but they need dry conditions to do so. birds kept in wet conditions are just asking for illnesses, especially cocci. I'd be doing the chicken shuffle until I could get them a dry, clean space and let them clean themselves.

Well that's the plan . The new coop should be done in a few days. I'm just concerned that their feathers won't get clean

Chickens are not dirty birds, just a product of their environment.
Keep their environment clean, they will keep themselves clean.
Seems you already have a plan..they should be be fine.
