I have several different styles of roosts, a couple old dry cedar posts, and a flatter, split 4-5 inch post. Thing is, some chickens like one, some like another, and some change their mind.
So try taking the rope off one of the roosts and see. It is so irritating when you spend money trying to make something extra sweet for your hens and they turn up their beaks at it.
