I had a friend bring me some eggs for my trial run on my just built incubaror. I ask that they not be washed. They are really filthy! I wiped a little with a paper towel, and plan to dip in an oxine solution. Anything else ? Should they be washed?? They are really bad, thanks ..........stan

You can rinse them with WARM or HOT water (make sure it's not cool/cold), and scrub it lightly to get the poop off. That would be okay. Many people ship eggs without them being washed, but that could cause sanitation issues in your hatch and a bad odor in the incubator if they're really that dirty.

Washing them with ANY liquid cleaner, or water will wipe off their protective coating,

which will make it more easy for disease and bacteria to enter...Plus rubbing, and wiping

tends to actually push bacteria through the pores of the egg. It's reccommended to just

stay away from dirty eggs, when incubating eggs. You could just knock some of it off with

a dry papertowl. Dont wipe to hard....Is the dirt/poo wet or dry?

It's dirt poo combination. I think I may wash the dirtiest , dip the somewhat clean, and leave the cleanest ones alone. I'll mark them and see how the hatch goes. I have decided to not put really dirty eggs in the incubator. thanks for the help . More opinions always welcome!! ......stan
