dirty eggs

I was going to do a test this week. Sometimes on a rainy day, I get a bunch of dirty eggs or if I manage to save up a dozen and a half dirty eggs from the eggs I didn't sell, I figure out a way to incubate them.

I saw a show where they dipped them in chlorox and they had a killer hatch rate!
I'm actually going to try it.

Are you sure they didn't dip in oxine? I would think that bleach is toxic

Where does one find this oxine that I hear people talk about? I tried getting some at the feed store tonight and he didn't even know what it was.

I bought a gallon when my duck was ill for his respitory problems-I never wound up using it because by the time I got it he was much better...I got it from
revivalanimal.com great pricing too oh and I clean every egg to get poop off--yuckie and it keeps the bacteria out of bator..

Mine just started laying for the first time so I stuck a few in the bator....all fertile and 2 were pretty dirty. I kinda wiped them off with a dry paper towel but they were still kinda dirty so I just stuck them in anyhow. We'll see in a couple weeks what happens

I dont use dirty eggs. I find that if the perch they use to get into nest is poopie, then eggs are dirty. I would just wait for the next batch. Doesnt that increase risk of bacteria going to to heat?

Oh man, I didn't think of it that way. I just figured if they were dirty that particular egg just might not hatch....I'm not sure if it would ruin the other eggs or not??? hmmmmm

yes it does..SO with every egg in bator they get spot checks from me. I learned the hard way when I first started incubating and put in a batch from aBYCer that was sooo not clean and the hatch was bad-smelly-and chicks were not healthy looking...I wont take that chance again.
