Dirty eggs

My hen is sitting on 2 goose eggs they are getting gross dirty. Should I just leave them or clean them. She has parked herself and is not budging much. I don't want to upset her.

Don't clean them....I think when a broody sets, it's best not to disturb her. They say there is an invisible coating on the egg called the "bloom" that keeps harmful germs and bacteria out of the egg......You might wash that off....

Agreed.

Washing the eggs in any liquid can wash the protective coating that helps keep bacteria out, off.

Plus, scrubbing and rubbing the egg will push bacteria through the pores of the egg. What do they

have on them? If it's dry dirt/poop you can take some tweasers and gently knock and pick it off.

Some people wash their eggs, but they do so before incubation.
