Dirty Silkies 😲

Hey there, i couldnt find a silkie section so sorry if this isnt the place!

I have 8 silkies that are laying eggs and sitting and being happy birds, But there butts are covered in frozen poop... in the summer ide dip them in buckets of warm water but what do i do in the winter time?

They dont roost, i replace shavings and clean the coop consistently.. i dont know what to do

I'd take them inside, wash their butts, blow dry them, then take them back to the coop.

I had to bathe a couple of my chickens when it was in the 20's outside. They needed the full body bath though. One was all muddy, the second has a fungal skin infection.

No. They like the blow dryer, but didn't like the bath very much.

I agree bring them indoors wash their fuzzy butts and make sure they are good and dry, you can also trim a wee bit off to try and stop some of the poop from sticking

Be sure they are having normal consistency poop and don’t have coccidia or something else contributing to the poopy bottoms.
