Dis-formed duck at park pond

When me, my mom, little brother, and older sister went to the local pond, I noticed that there was a Buff Orpington drake, with a dis-formed foot! His leg sticks straight out, and his foot is curled up. When he gets out of the pond, he struggles to even walk. So he just basically swims ALL the time. Any idea how this has happened to him? Theres 5 other ducks there, 4 mallard drakes, and a mallard hen. Pretty bad ratio, but one of the males has been paired with her. This must have been a "drop and run" sorta thing, cause he wasn't there before. I feel bad for him, and want to take him home, but park people patrol the pond 24/7 and won't even let me make contact with the mallard drakes that come for me for food. Not like they depend on people for food, but you can tell people feed them. They are pure wild mallards too. Any advice on the subject?

Thanks in advance!

Any way you can contact a park ranger to let you catch and remove him? If not, is there an animal rescue place you can contact? They can't be patrolling that pond all the time or they would have not let someone dump a duck there. Then again, a lot of people don't know the difference between a wild duck and a domestic duck. I would work on getting someone "official" to help you. Perhaps you can contact someone at your local media about this.

Duckgirl, you have precious ducks at home. Please to not catch a "wild" duck and take it to your place. You risk health issues with your own ducks.

It sounds like the park rangers are doing their best to protect the ducks that are there and to stop any more from being dropped off.

If you ever do meet the people that dropped that crippled duck off, please give them a punch in the nose for me. Other than that, you can contact some wildlife rescue groups, although I doubt they will take domestic ducks. But maybe they know someone who can do something.
