Hello,
I have three ducklings that came to us with disabilities. I have had them on niacin since I got them. I have one Rouen about 1 month old that has her hocks twisting out and walking on her hocks. She has been getting around just fine. We have tried binding them but it made things worse. I also have a duckling that is about 3 weeks old that has the same thing happening to it. I want to do my best to give them the best life I can. I am just trying to figure out what it is and how I can accommodate it. It seems that it was splay leg at one point but just got worse and now their hocks are close together underneath and it causes their feet to go up instead of being on the ground. I have done water therapy for them and kept them on dry, slip resistant bedding. Please help me understand what this is and how I can help them a little.

What do you feed them exactly
And what form of niacin are you using and how much do you give?
And yes, please post pictures
I have had them on Mazuri Waterfowl Feed and switched to starter with niacin supplement. As for the niacin itself I have been using Nutritional Yeast and High Level Vitamin B Complex in their water. I can send pictures and videos when I get home. I do have some from when I first got them which I’ll post also

If you can, please post pictures that show their legs and if you’re able to make a short video of how they try to walk ?

Did you have them since hatch? Were you the one who hatched them? Did you use an incubator?
Problems with keeping a steady temperature during incubation could cause defects possibly - when the first one had splay leg was it treated?
Giving them plenty of water therapy time is great and keeping them on soft bedding so they don’t injure the legs walking on them but I really would like to see pictures of what’s going on.
The Mazuri starter is a good feed and I’m glad you’re using nutritional yeast it’s 1 tablespoon per cup mixed into their food
Not sure how that would work if you’re putting the food on water and using it as a floating food like you can do with Mazuri though.
The liquid B complex is the best thing for the niacinamide in it. Add it to water is helpful but even better if you can make sure they each get a full dose of it an adult duck I give one ML per day for a duckling probably half an ML. (0.5) you can give it directly into their mouth. If you know how to do it with a syringe with no needle on it I’ll give you a link about that.
Or you can squirt it over a small dish of treats that you know they will gobble up like mealworms in that case I would put the full ML per duck over the treat.
Is there any chance that you can take them to an avian vet in your area?
