Disappointing hatch with new incubator

When you say 9 were in their 'original state' do you mean that they did not even grow? If so, i would think they were not even fertile. Also i wondered if the sportsman needs to be calibrated every hatch and if that was done?

I'm guessing your humidity sensor is off. I have a new Sportsman 1502 that I'm using for the first time. With the just pan in there, uncovered, my humidity is consistent around 42-43%. Until the eggs hatch though, I have no way to know if it's accurate but at least it's consistent. Tomorrow is day 18 so I'll put a wick pad in and see how high that gets it.

does it have a digital read out on the right side top at the back. i do rember your post on the rolling around eggs that could have been part of the problem maybe even most of it. if it does have the digital read out you should keep the humidity at 45 to 50 i belive willl look to make sure this evening. did you get a water pan with it it sits in frount of the fan on the shelf. if not you need to find a pan about the same size. i add water to mine about every 3 to 4 days as it gets low. there should be a little blact tube looking thiny with a blue spot in it sticking out of the black plug beside the read out if not look inside the bator for it it need to stick out about an inch (dont pull the blue part) that is the out side temp monter. I found that if it is inside the bator it can cause the inside temp to kinda freek out. and hang in there we will get it going

I dont want to be unkind, but the reall problem is that you dont know what you did. It is very necessry to run the incubator with known temps and humidity. All of that should be well calibrated before setting eggs. There is tons of inormation on this site and others to give guidance not only regarding the temp an rh targets and the equipment needed to get there.

I suggest getting a termometer that is can be read from outside the bator, and an hygromter that you trust and start again.

The temps required for hatching are very narrow. The humidity is less so.

Good luck
