good morning my fellow chicken keepers! I need help with an issue. I have 7 7-8 week old Brahmas chicks (bought them at 2-3 weeks old) THey are growing beautifully.... eating and drinking well.. playing wonderfully. I have them in one of the blue tractor supply coops . It’s kind of a transition coop till they are big enough to go in the “big house”. Yesterday morning one of them looked a little lethargic... not terribly... just wasn’t running and playing with everyone. I placed her in a sunny spot in the grass and went on about my morning chores. I saw her suddenly stand straight up, throw her beak up high in the air, and fall over (dead)... no life at all in her.
These Brahmas are bigger than my bantam Cochins!! I’m at a loss what could have caused this!! Everyone else is happy and heathy!!! Any input would be appropriated..... I’m so upset over this....

Oh my! I’m so sorry. Unfortunately you posted a buy & sell thread. The experts your looking for are more likely to follow the emergency/illness thread. I would repost there. I don’t have much experience with sick birds. :hugs

At that age, with lethargy, coccidiosis should be considered. Did you see any of the droppings? Symptoms of coccidiosis are usually lethargy, sitting fluffed up, going off feed and water, runny or mucousy or bloody droppings. I would watch the others very closely for any symptoms, they can be quite subtle at the beginning.
Treatment is Corid, available at most feed stores and tractor supply's ,etc. Look in the livestock section, it can be powder or liquid. I will post the dosing chart so you will have it if needed, use the severe outbreak dosing. The treatment is very safe, if you suspect this is what it is, don't delay starting treatment on the others. Coccidiosis is very common in chicks and young birds.
