Days before the anticipated hatch we had to relocate our broody to the garage due to a suspected snake stealing her eggs. She got so upset she wouldn't sit on the eggs and turned her water over on them. A few days later we gave up & returned her to the gen pop. We kept the eggs so we could use them to bait the snake. Another day later we have pipping from one egg. It's been trying to hatch for almost a day without much progress. Should I bring mama back? I did throw a heat lamp on the eggs once we heard it peeping.

Is she still broody?
Where was she setting in the first place that a snake had access to the eggs?

She's no longer broody. She was actually leaving the eggs a lot before we moved her. She was in the coop. We just assumed it was a snake because an egg went missing 2 days in a row with no mess, nothing at all. We couldn't find any other clue though.

If she's no longer broody, she'll not accept the chick. You are going to have to hatch and raise it.
Do you have more than one egg that you are trying to hatch?

We did but this is the only one pipping. I was trying to hatch babies for my mom so if this one survives, I'll buy it some friends.

Where the others alive? Just because they hadn't pipped doesn't mean the chicks inside weren't alive.
I have no idea. They're under the heat lamp and I keep turning them in hopes that they'll still hatch. I honestly thought they were all dead after being so cold for 3 days.

Do you hear peeping from the one that pipped or any of the others?
You should stop turning them. They don't get turned this close to hatch.

Only the one pipping is making noise. It has pecked a hole in the shell and we can see it moving.
