Oh, wow...what is this??? We have a 1.5 y.o. Golden Comet hen (Tulip)who free ranges. She (or someone, I think it's her) has been occasionally laying a discolored, or oddly colored, rough shelled egg IN THE YARD, just every once in a while. Yesterday evening we found her lying down under a bush, with a discolored rough shelled egg near her. She stood up and appeared to be straining. She is very lame, and just a touch of diarhea. Very strong though, bright, good weight, and eating and drinking well. WE, like many people, have had weeks and weeks of very hot, dry, weather, mixed with violent storms, and power outages,so I'm sure it's hard on the flock. But this is the third hen we've had get sick in about as many months. Each one had different symptoms. Normally, we have been lucky in having a very healthy flock.

ANYONE?? I guess the discolored, rough shelled eggs are what I'm looking for answers to, for starters.
