Discourge hens from cackling

I don't think there is anything you can do to discourage a hen from "loudly praising herself" after she lays an egg, or even during. It's a natural thing. They will also scream if there is a predator about, dog, cat, hawk. It's a chicken thing.....

I've found that if I wrap their little mouths with duct tape, there is considerably less noise that I have to deal with. I cannot stand having to listen to that crap every day. Its just constant irritable noise.

So sorry. I was talking about the neighbors.

I love the way my chickens sound. I even think that the neighborhood doves make more noises.
