all but three of my girls are from a hatchery these chicks are usually for mass egg production (store bought eggs)

What I don't get is, although they may be smaller breeds, why can't they be given to areas of people to raise as food or other countries?

If you can eat a quail why not a small chicken?

How I understand why my hatched chick seem to thrive better then those i bought from the hatchery. It makes you understand the "delivery stress" your hatchery chick go through. 99% of my chicks that I hatch thrive whereas I lost 6 out of my 26 hatchery chicks in the first week no matter what I did.
