Disinfect Waterers

After three cases of sour crop, I think it’s time I disinfect the waterers. What’s the best way to do this? I use the plastic ones... the metal ones were turning the water cloudy. Thanks!

A little bit of bleach in water. Soak for a bit, scour clean, rinse, than put out in the sun to dry.

I have to admit I never sanitize my waterers, just scrub them occasionally.

Every so often I throw the ones that fit into the top rack of the dishwasher.

I scrub them out with a paper towel almost every morning though before filling them and bringing them out. I’m just really anal about the drinking water. Of course when they free range in the rain they’ll drink out of the nastiest, crap/scum filled puddles they can find, but at least I can control the cleanliness of the water 99% of the time.

Restaurant grade bleach solution! I tablespoon unscented bleach to a gallon water! Scrub and let air dry! Good luck!

Just an afterthought- consider adding raw apple cider vinegar with "mother" to their water to help with preventing sour crop. It's a natural ph balancing agent and has good probiotics!

I know some say it does nothing but it's a cheap thing that won't hurt anyone and I've had good success with it!

I wash all of my waterers daily in the dishwasher.
