Disinfecting injuries

I just took off my chickens “cast” and it’s all scabbed over. When you disinfect a chicken injury is it okay to use alcohol?

I made a little “cast” (more like bandage) out of paper towel and tape to stop his spur from bleeding. What would you recommend using to disinfect injuries?

Saltwater, i.e Saline Solution. You can make a homemade saline solution, just boil a cup of water with ½ teaspoon of salt for 15 minutes. Let it cool and use the saline solution at room temperature. If you want to clean the wound more than one day, always make fresh solution.

I would use saline or a wound spray such as chlorhexidene/Hibiclens or Vetericyn. Saline is 1/2 tsp of salt in an 8 ounce cup of water. You can then dab a bit of plain Neosporin or bacitracin on it.
