One of my twelve week Buff's has hurt her right leg at some point during the day. She was last out of the coop this morning and when I peeked in, she was laying on her side.

She came out at some point and was free ranging today with the flock. At the end of the day, we found her standing on one leg next to the ramp. My husband picked her up and set her through the door. I picked her up from inside to set her on the roost and she lost her balance and fell off. She was dragging her foot around, so we brought her to the garage and set her up with food and water in the brooder box. I see no blood, nothing looks broken. She just Holds her leg out in front of her with her toes straight and won't put weight on it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Was she vaccinated for Marek's disease? That is always a concern when a chicken is dragging a leg. Hopefully she has just strained something, but she could have broken her leg. I think you are doing the right things so far with separating her so that she doesn't become injured. Hopefully she will eat and drink okay, and rest her leg. I hope she recovers for you. My hen hurt her leg about 2 months ago, but she just held it up for a while, and ate, drank, and roosted okay. It took her a month to recover, but she wasn't as bad as your hen.

All my chicks were vaccinated for Marek's. They arrived as day old chicks from Meyer Hatchery.

She's still eating, though I can't tell if she's drinking. She has easy access to food and water and seems to be laying peacefully every time I check on her.

Going to get my husband to help me feel up her leg and stretch it out to see if its the achilles. Otherwise, I guess we just patiently wait and see what happens.
