My Sebright hen hasn't laid in 2-3 weeks. I thought maybe she was beginning to molt so didn't think anything of it. She's been walking around with the other hens, pecking at the ground and drinking all day with nothing seeming wrong. I noticed a few nights ago when I would coop them up she would be laying next to a nesting box and it looked like she was trying to push an egg out (tail up, rhythmic motions.) Today noticed she has a very distended belly and her vent is protruding. She also is breathing a little harder than normal. Gave her an epsom bath and tried to feel in the vent for an egg. Only inserted my finger to around the first knuckle cause I don't really know what I'm doing and don't want to hurt her. Nonetheless I didn't feel anything. Also gave her some oral calcium. I don't know how old she is as I got her from a friend about 6 months ago, but I would guess 1-2 years. She has access to water all day, with added probiotic, and layer pellets. I honestly don't know if she's been eating the pellets as I don't watch them in their coop. Seems to be pooping normally. All the chickens free range during the day. Any suggestions as to what is wrong with her? Should I try a vet?
