Ok, back story: I recently took out the fake eggs that were in the nest area. Today, I happened to be outside when Sassy was laying. Husky was all but crossing her legs waiting for Sassy to finish up.
When Sassy was done, I grabbed the egg so that she would come out a little sooner. When she came out, Husky started to go in the nest area, but then jumped back out and started to pace all around the coop making trilling noises. She repeated this process several times, pacing faster and faster after each hop and check of the nest area.
Finally, I put Sassy's egg back in the nest, and Husky finally settled in, getting the egg under her just so before laying her own egg.
Husky seemed very distressed that there wasn't already an egg in the nest, and relaxed as soon as there was. So do I put the fake eggs back in, and accept the fact that my chicken is a big weirdo?

I have golf balls in a few of my nesting boxes, all had one but somehow they all ended up split between two boxes, which are the only two boxes my hens will lay in. I assume that it gives the idea that it is a safe place to lay. I moved them once back to each box but they were moved again?!? lol Chickens are funny!

I just leave the fake eggs/ golf balls in the nests.
Sometimes I move them around to see if it changes their habits.

Hard to say what the behavior was about.....but they do like to lay where there is already an 'egg'.

Thanks! I did put the fake ones back in, and there was three eggs today! First time ask three that are laying laid on the same day. I'll take it, and leave the fake ones in place if it means more eggs!
