In the Brooder
Ok, back story: I recently took out the fake eggs that were in the nest area. Today, I happened to be outside when Sassy was laying. Husky was all but crossing her legs waiting for Sassy to finish up.
When Sassy was done, I grabbed the egg so that she would come out a little sooner. When she came out, Husky started to go in the nest area, but then jumped back out and started to pace all around the coop making trilling noises. She repeated this process several times, pacing faster and faster after each hop and check of the nest area.
Finally, I put Sassy's egg back in the nest, and Husky finally settled in, getting the egg under her just so before laying her own egg.
Husky seemed very distressed that there wasn't already an egg in the nest, and relaxed as soon as there was. So do I put the fake eggs back in, and accept the fact that my chicken is a big weirdo?
