Okay so I’m hatching 4 different breeds at once in my small 22 egg Nurture Right 360 incubator. I’m not an expert at being able to tell them apart as chicks so I was wondering if I could but some sort of divider between the different breeds before lockdown on day 18. Any ideas on what I could use? Would cardboard catch fire? I have attached a picture of my incubator.

Easter Eggers, Crested Cream Legbar, Olive Eggers, lavender Orpington (I know I will be able to tell LO’s apart....)

The crested cream legbars will have small crests, even as chicks. the olive eggers (based on the strain) will be brownish/red in color, single comb. the easter eggers could look like anything. Based on the color of egg hatching, you will know which breed is which. you can remove them frequently and keep track of which chick came from which egg

You could try some scrap hardware cloth to reduce any fire hazard and it can be bent to whatever shape you need if you absolutely need to separate.

Thank you! I will do this. I don’t want to open the incubator to take them out frequently because I’m worried about losing humidity
