Dividers in that small of an incubator would do more harm than good, in my opinion. You 100% do not need them for the safety of the chicks. If you want to keep them quiet so they bump into each other less, keep them in the dark.

No, I think I accidentally used cold water on the sponges so it dropped a few degrees. But I did hear that the temperature can be lowered a few degrees during lockdown.I would put the sponges in the bottom with the water.
I'm hoping the temperature is so low because it's been open and you just closed it?
It can go down to about 98, not 96No, I think I accidentally used cold water on the sponges so it dropped a few degrees. But I did hear that the temperature can be lowered a few degrees during lockdown.
I left the house but when I get home I'll check to see if the temperature is back to normal again. It can go down to about 98, not 96
This had been going around recently....but I think it only applies to certain species or in the case of using a huge cabinet incubator. But I did hear that the temperature can be lowered a few degrees during lockdown.
I know I've read it for chickens, and it's likely I read it on a university site as that's where I usually refresh my hatching knowledge, but I don't think it's something we really need to try to do. It's a consideration in that if my hatcher is wanting to sit at 98.5-99.5 I won't really worry about changing it, but I wouldn't adjust my wafer in my incubator for anything. This had been going around recently....but I think it only applies to certain species or in the case of using a huge cabinet incubator.
I know.....not for BYCer's.but I don't think it's something we really need to try to do.
