So here's the story: we put 10 or so eggs under a broody standard Cochin hen 22 days ago...they're a handful of barnyard mixes, most of which have already hatched, most on day 19 and some on day 21. Then there's the 3 HUGE Dixie Rainbow eggs, and getting chicks from our Dixie was the whole point of this hatch. The hen who laid them is massive (roughly 9 lbs) and always lays huge eggs that don't fit in jumbo egg cartons, but has literally NEVER laid a double yolker, so I doubt that's our issue. I contacted the breeder that I got the Dixie from, and she said it's normal for Dixies to hatch a couple days late just due to their size. Does anyone else have experience with this? Do you find it to be true? There is chirping coming from at least one of the eggs and all appear to be alive, but by now I would have expected to at least see a pip, and I am starting to get a little concerned. Thank you all on advance for your help.
